Mitsis Summer Palace

Mitsis Summer Palace Beach is a luxury 5 star hotel, a short drive from Kardamena, on the south east coast of Kos. Guests have access to eight swimming pools on site, as well as a private beach with a lifeguard. If you’re heading into Kos Town during your stay, you’ll also be able to use the facilities at Mitsis Ramira Beach Hotel for no extra charge, ideal if you want to grab a bite or beer during your daytrip.

Your all-inclusive perks include access to three restaurants, choose from a variety of Mediterranean, Japanese and Peruvian options and maybe sample a local sweet speciality - Ravani cake and a small glass of the local Ouzo spirit. The little ones have a special kids’ selection to choose from. For late risers there’s a brunch option from 9am to midday. If your flight times aren’t convenient you don’t need to worry about missing a meal, as a late buffet service is available from 10pm to 4am, followed by an early breakfast service. Also ideal for those who get peckish in the night!

The little guests can enjoy a wide variety of fun activities at the Mini Club, operating daily from 10:00 to 17:00 and the Teens Club operating during July and August. The mini humans have a special pool with a fun slide, as well as a playground and in the evenings there’s a Childrens' Disco.

The not-so-little guests can enjoy a great range of daily activities combining fitness with fun from tennis to beach volley and aerobics to dancing lessons. The wide selection of bars on site offer cocktails, beer, coffee, juices and long drinks. Choose whether you want a drink by the pool, on the beach or indoors, maybe with a pita gyro or crepe. Cocktail nights are part of the entertainment programme.

Rooms are equipped with a balcony or terrace, minibar, satellite TV, beach towels and WiFi. You’ll also receive a gift from the hotel the day before you check-out.

A drive of just under 6km will take you to the main town of Kardamena with its host of bars, tavernas and nightclubs. Kos has a vast cultural history to explore, with a number of castles and museums around the area, including the hilltop ruins of the 14th-century Antimachia Castle, just inland from Kardamena. You can hike up here for views over the resort. For a day trip, you can even take a boat from Kos to the ancient city of Bodrum in Turkey, where you’ll find plenty of medieval architecture and a popular bazaar.

Restaurant the Med

Been here at the end of June with my friend, so hugely satisfied with it that I went back in early August for a short trip with my mom. A big shout out to the team at The Med restaurant, by this I mean Marinos and his team. What a service, wow. Been pampered from morning to evening up to and including, the best team of all Mitsis hotels (have been in several). For this team alone I would go back!

Beautiful resort, friendly staff and fantastic food!

The location is pretty remote and not particularly close to anything but this was not a problem for us as there are several bars and restaurants within the resort. It is also quite close to the airport which is great. The room was fairly basic but was kept clean had everything you would need including a free minibar. The resort itself was great. There are lots of swimming pools and a lovely beach. The food was one of the highlights so make sure you book into these as the food at the Med Bar, Dusk Bar and Den Bar is all excellent. The beach bar was also great, providing cocktails and gyros. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help. We had a fantastic time and would definitely come back!

Best All-inclusive package

Many people are not keen on all-inclusives, and for good reason. Usually they require buffets and poor quality drinks and are merely an excuse to get pissed for a low price. If you have considered this hotel, but hesitated because it is an all-inclusive, I highly recommend you go for it. When we stayed here, we didn't need to eat any meals in the buffet. We ate brunch at the Med every morning and then had lunch either from the pizza station, or at the creperie or at the snack bar down by the beach and then enjoyed either the Mediterranean restaurant, the BBQ your own food restaurant or the Peruvian/Japanese restaurant for dinner. The quality of the meals is really top notch. We particularly appreciated Sylvie in the Peruvian/Japanese restaurant and George in the snack bar. Sylvie was extremely attentive and always made us feel special and George was always accommodating and working so hard all day. The cocktails are also noteworthy. They have a large menu, but will also make different cocktails if they have the ingredients and they are happy to make drinks strong or weak to your preference. Some commenters note that the hotel has old and new sections. This is indeed true. They do offer both modern and the older rooms, however, as someone who stayed in the older section, we were very happy, but to be fair, we spent most of our time outside either on the beach or in the restaurants or the bars or the pools, and all of those areas are new and modern, so it didn't bother us to sleep in older rooms. And if you are worried of becoming bored, they had events throughout the day, including aerobics, aqua-aerobics (in the sea), darts and boccia, or you can enjoy the water slides or even use the pedalos and canoes for free. And you will surely never tire of the gorgeous views, considering you are on the cliff overlooking the sea. Before we left, we had booked our trip to return next year. The worst part of the trip was that in just one week, I gained 3 kg. But it was absolutely worth it and I look forward to doing it again!
